Today, we are excited to announce the launch of Project Parkway, a campaign to raise $250,000 to support Red Line Parkway Initiative’s efforts to plan, build, and steward the Red Line Parkway—a 32+ mile linear park and public space running from Downtown Austin to Leander.
As many of you already know, the vision for the Parkway is to provide residents of the Austin metro area with access to a thriving and inclusive multi-functional trail and opportunities to enjoy car-free access to transit, parks, green space, and public art. As our metro area continues to grow at unprecedented rates, it is imperative that we come together to prioritize resources like the Parkway in our community.

Travis County Approves Funding for the Red Line Parkway Plan
Last week, the Travis County Commissioners Court approved $100,000 for the Red Line Parkway Plan in their FY22 budget! This is huge, and will help continue our momentum to get started on the new plan. We thank county staff and Commissioner Brigid Shea for shepherding our budget request through to a 5-0 vote seconded by Commissioner Travillion (and almost seconded by Commissioner Ann Howard). The Red Line Parkway will connect all four Travis County precincts to each other and to Williamson County.

Sept. 9th: Red Line Webinar by CapMetro
Capital Metro is hosting a Project Connect update on upcoming MetroRail Red Line projects on Thursday, September 9th at 12:00 noon. The webinar will cover updates on the McKalla, Broadmoor, & Lakeline Stations, plus double-tracking work, quiet zones, and overall Red Line news.

On national Celebrate Our Trails Day, Saturday, April 24th, 2021, we encourage you to visit the Red Line Parkway and its connecting trails:
- Red Line Parkway from Trinity & 4th to Cherrywood Road (Use E. 4th St. and Comal St. for the existing gap east of Navasota)
- Red Line Parkway from Denson Drive to Lamar Blvd.
- Northern Walnut Creek Trail from Amherst Drive to Walnut Creek Park Rd.
- Red Line Parkway from Avery Ranch Blvd. north to Brushy Creek Trail, then to 183A Path to Hero Way

Amplify Austin officially kicks off this Thursday! Support the Red Line Parkway with your donation in Austin’s 24-hour day of giving. Amplify Austin officially begins this Thursday, March 4th at 6pm, but donations are welcome anytime, including today. All donations this week are matched.
