Ride along as we explore the Red Line Parkway and enjoy several urban parks in East Austin and Downtown.
Join us on a casual 8-12 mile ride along the Red Line Parkway, Boggy Creek Trail, Crosstown Bikeway, Shoal Creek Trail, and through Downtown. We’ll visit several parks, including Boggy Creek Greenbelt, Parque Zaragoza, Waterloo Park, Texas Capitol grounds, Shoal Creek Greenbelt, Pease Park, Republic Square, and Brush Square. The 12-mile ride can be shortened to 8 miles at the end by taking the CapMetro Red Line from Downtown Station back to MLK Jr. Station.
We will depart from MLK Jr. Station at 10:00am, and the 12-mile ride is scheduled to return by 2:00pm. The ride includes snacks, water, and restroom breaks along the route.
Though the main bike ride group departs from MLK Jr. Station, we will have a timed stop at Downtown Station so that participants arriving on the first southbound train can join the bike ride departing Downtown Station after the train arrives (no sooner than 11:17am).
This ride is intended to be casual and fun. All ages are welcome, though ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult. All wheels welcome!
We will have a very limited number of complimentary bikes to keep, thanks to Yellow Bike Project. Please only request a bike if you do not have the means to otherwise access a bike. Those who register for a bike will be fitted for their bike ahead of the ride, at 9:00am.
