Call for Red Line Parkway Initiative Board Members

19 March, 2026

Pictured above are Red Line Parkway Initiative board members and staff at last year's State of the Parkway. View Our Team to find our full list of board and staff.

We are expanding our Board of Directors and inviting members of our community to express interest in helping guide the next phase of the Parkway’s growth.

The Red Line Parkway Initiative is working to create a welcoming, car-free parkway connecting communities from Downtown Austin to Cedar Park and Leander — a safe, inclusive space for walking, biking, and connecting people to transit and public places for generations to come.

What does serving on the board involve?

Board members help guide organizational strategy, strengthen partnerships, and ensure RLPI has the resources needed to move from vision to reality. This includes:

  • Attending quarterly board meetings and serving on a committee.

  • Helping spread the word about the Parkway and representing it positively in the community.

  • Supporting fundraising and helping expand RLPI’s network of supporters.

  • Bringing professional expertise and perspective to organizational decisions.

As RLPI enters a growth phase, we are especially seeking candidates with experience in fundraising, legal counsel, HR/organizational development, finance, and real estate or development partnerships.

A note about fundraising

As a growing nonprofit, board members play an important role in helping RLPI build sustainable funding. There are many ways to contribute — from introducing friends to the Parkway, hosting small gatherings, helping with campaigns, or cultivating donor relationships — and we work with each board member to find an approach that fits their strengths and comfort level.

Interested?

If you would like to learn more or be considered, please complete our short interest form by Sunday, April 19th.

Submitting the form does not commit you to joining — it simply starts a conversation with our Board Recruitment Committee. We will reach out with next steps by the end of April, including possibly scheduling an informational meeting.

Informational Happy Hours

We are also hosting informational happy hours to provide face-to-face opportunities to learn more about board service and other volunteer opportunities. We welcome you to stop by and ask any questions that you may have.

Thank you for being part of the Parkway community and helping us build something lasting for Central Texas.

If you have questions in the meantime, you can contact Tom Wald, Executive Director or Brianna Frey, Board Recruitment Chair.
