Parkway Actions & Input

We encourage you to provide input via the opportunities below, all of which impact the Red Line Parkway, whether directly or indirectly.

Austin Urban Trails Wayfinding Survey

The City of Austin is taking important next steps to implement wayfinding signage across our city's urban trail system. Learn more and complete their survey by August 28th. This current work builds on existing signage from the city and nonprofit partners such as Red Line Parkway Initiative.

I-35 Central Small Area Mobility Plan

The City of Austin is planning for mobility improvements near I-35 from Lady Bird Lake to 51st St. to complement TxDOT's I-35 Capital Express Central Project. The city has developed a draft plan of near-term and long-term improvements, generally for walk, bike, and transit mobility, to several corridors in this area, which is also part of the system of connectivity with the Red Line Parkway. Learn more and provide feedback by August 31st.

City of Austin Transportation Survey

Help shape City of Austin transportation work by completing their latest general transportation user survey by August 28th.

Bicycle Friendly Community Public Survey

The League of American Bicyclists (LAB) is the oldest bicycling organization in the USA, and is seeking your input on your community's bike friendliness. You can share your input to inform the City of Austin's current application to the LAB for bike friendliness, or you can complete the survey for any part of the USA. Learn more and take the survey by September 8th.

Lime User Survey

Lime is working to better understand how shared bikes and scooters can serve lower-income communities across Austin. Learn more and take their survey.

More Parkway and Vicinity Updates

  • Burrell Drive: The new protected bike lanes and pedestrian crossings along Burrell Drive in Wooten are installed, improving the Red Line Parkway connection from south of Anderson Lane to Ohlen Road! Learn more from the City of Austin. Join the City of Austin and neighbors for a celebration and bike ride on Saturday, September 12th, 9-11am at Wooten Neighborhood Park.
  • CapMetro Bikeshare Returns: CapMetro Bikeshare restarted service on August 11th after a systemwide closure resulting from a warehouse fire. All stations are open, but full service will continue to be ramped up over the coming months. Learn more from CapMetro.
  • Austin Bond Election and Budget: Austin City Council recently took next steps to fund new trails and greenways. Funding will come via two avenues. One set of funding will be put to voters as a parks bond item this November. Another set of funding was approved by council as transportation funding in the coming year fiscal budget. Thanks to all of those who spoke up and supported trails and parks funding!
  • Cesar Chavez Street and Chalmers Avenue: As part of its Safe Routes to School Program, the City of Austin installed a new pedestrian signal for Chalmers Avenue crossing Cesar Chavez Street. Learn more from the City of Austin. This creates a new, stronger connection between the Red Line Parkway and Lady Bird Lake, and helps build the potential for a unique, continuous, quiet street connection along Chalmers Street from 11th Street to Lady Bird Lake as additional gaps are filled.
  • MoKan Trail Bridge: The MoKan Trail project will connect the Red Line Parkway & Lance Armstrong Bikeway at 5th & Pedernales to the Southern Walnut Creek Trail at Govalle Park. The latest phase of the project is the City of Austin's installation of a new trail bridge over Boggy Creek near Lyons Road & Springdale Road. This will also become part of the growing 30-mile Big Loop. Learn more from the City of Austin.
  • Rutland Drive: Safety and mobility improvements are well underway along Rutland Drive, connecting the Shoal Creek Trail, Red Line Parkway, and points east. This project also makes progress to help complete the 30-mile Big Loop. Learn the latest from the City of Austin.
  • Amherst Drive and Duval Road: The City of Austin recently completed new pedestrian safety improvements along Amherst Drive and Duval Road.
