Red Line Parkway Temporary Wayfinding Signs Installed in October 2024

The Red Line Parkway Initiative, in partnership with the City of Austin departments of Transportation and Public Works and Parks and Recreation, plus AARP, Parkhill, and others, has installed temporary wayfinding signage for the Red Line Parkway along a 16-mile route from downtown Austin to the Northern Walnut Creek Trail. The signage identifies the best available route that includes existing trail & park segments, plus on-street bike lanes, sidewalks, and shared streets, and provides access to CapMetro Rail Red Line stations along the way. An interactive map of the route (shown in green) can be found on our Resources page.

This signed route is part of the Red Line Parkway, a planned 32+ mile trail and linear park from downtown Austin to Leander. Over time, as new sections of trail are built, the current route of the Red Line Parkway will be updated. Sign locations were chosen to ensure usability for people walking and biking. Signs are located on public right-of-way in coordination with city departments, and on private property in coordination with property owners.
