Red Line Parkway Initiative has been awarded $2,000,800 to create the Red Line Parkway Community Vision & Implementation Strategy! Our project was one of a very select group in our region chosen by the Texas Transportation Commission to receive federal Transportation Alternatives funding.
This is huge news! This grant will be transformational toward completing the Red Line Parkway—ensuring continued momentum and filling gaps that would otherwise never be completed.
The Community Vision & Implementation Strategy:
- Builds off of the CapMetro Red Line Trail Study completed last year,
- Will be the first ever community vision plan for the 36-mile trail and linear park, helping to shape the trail and public space around it, and how it interfaces with the surrounding built urban environment,
- Will identify an end-to-end route for the trail—off-street and generally away from roadway corridors,
- Will help secure the space needed for the trail and linear park,
- Will develop a timeline-constrained funding strategy to complete the trail, and
- Will identify clear roles and next steps for each government agency, plus private and community stakeholders along the corridor.
We anticipate kicking off the project by fall 2026, with completion by summer 2028. We will also begin initial community and agency conversations earlier in 2026 to get things started right.
