One Year Since Our Launch Party

29 November, 2020

We thank our donors. They've helped make possible all that the Initiative has accomplished since our November 2019 Launch Party.

That includes the victory earlier this month with passage of Austin’s Propositions A and B, providing the largest amount of transit and active transportation funding to-date, including more than $80MM for urban trails. The Initiative worked tirelessly in partnership with Austin Outside, Bike Austin, Walk Austin, and others to put Prop B - Safe Mobility for All on the ballot and to ensure its passage.

We have also been busy working to ensure that crossing I-35 will be a car-free experience for the 10,000+ projected daily Parkway users at both crossings, and that this will be included as part of any major I-35 improvements proposed by TxDOT.

We also worked with the City of Austin, City of Leander, and others to ensure the Parkway has the space it needs to become a continuous 32-mile linear park with trails. And we’ve worked closely with City of Austin staff on several segments that are underway, including Austin’s first dual-track trail between Rosewood Avenue and 12th Street, to be completed by December!

While we had hoped to hire more staff and consultants in 2020 to get further along on the Parkway Plan, given our world’s tumultuous year, we feel fortunate that we did not have to lay off staff and that we were able to accomplish so much in 2020. Help us continue our work: If you are in a position to make an investment for our next twelve months of work, please do so now at RLPI.org/Donate. No amount is too small to show your support.
