We are thankful to have you as part of the Red Line Parkway community. We have a few exciting trailside updates for you.
Amplify Austin is Already Here
Amplify Austin Day is March 2-3, but the pre-game has begun! Your donation is matched multiple ways! Thanks to a pair of generous donors, all donations up to $5,000 are tripled, via a 2-to-1 match! And your donation will also be matched by funds raised by I Live Here I Give Here.
Last year, you helped expand awareness of the Red Line Parkway Initiative and our mission. Please donate and spread the word again today!
Founding Sponsor: Electric Avenue
We are proud to announce our new Founding Sponsor, Electric Avenue! They carry several brands of e-bikes and believe firmly in our mission. You can visit them in The Triangle, just a short ride from the Red Line Parkway via 46th/47th Streets or online: Website | Twitter | Facebook.
If you or someone you know would also like to become a Founding Sponsor of the Red Line Parkway Initiative, please contact Tom Wald, or you can learn more via our website.
Ride and Learn on the Red Line Parkway
Join the Red Line Parkway Initiative on March 12th at 10am for a bike ride and narrated tour along a 5-mile portion of the 32+ mile Red Line Parkway. Visit the event page for more information and to register. We thank AIA Austin, CTX ASLA, ULI Austin, and CNU-CTX for sharing the event info.
We also thank our generous event sponsors for their support: McCann Adams Studio, Electric Avenue, Parkhill, RVi Planning + Landscape Architecture
Opportunities to Shape the Red Line Parkway
There are several current and upcoming opportunities for you to help shape the Red Line Parkway:
-
ATX Walk Bike Roll Public Input Map, by March 6th: This is a huge opportunity to recommend new walk/bike/roll paths in our city. Take a few moments and provide a few new critical connections, short or long, on their map. These could be along a street, through an alleyway, between houses, across a water detention field, along a utility corridor, or along a railway! Don’t forget to draw in all of those short connections to your favorite Austin trail and park.
-
McKalla Station Charette, March 5th: The AIA Austin Urban Design Committee is joining with CTX ASLA for a one-day workshop focused on creative solutions to incorporate the Red Line Parkway into the constrained McKalla Station area. Learn more and register.
-
Crestview Station - Community Design Workshop, March 1st [This has been postponed, likely to April, and the registration link has been removed. Stay tuned to Red Line Parkway Initiative and Project Connect for updates.]: Join us at the first public input session about the future Orange Line Crestview Station. The shape of this station area impacts the alignment of the Red Line Parkway and the Lamar and Airport Boulevards intersection, and has tremendous potential as a gathering space to see your friends and neighbors. Register to attend—and receive an update in case the date changes.
-
MetroBike and Pickup Webinar: This input session was postponed from February 1st. Follow us on Twitter to receive the latest updates once it’s rescheduled. We’ll also post right here via our newsletter, if we receive advance notice from Capital Metro.
- 4th Street Corridor - Greenway?: Have you shared your vision for 4th Street with the Project Connect team yet? You can review the December 2021 presentation & video materials here. Email your input to [email protected]. Please consider expressing your support to create a top-notch walking and bicycling, tree-lined, connection along 4th St. between the Downtown Station and Shoal Creek. And perhaps also: a multimodal hub with ample secure bike parking and bike repair facilities.
Apply: Northline Circle Public Art Project
The Northline Leander Development Company is seeking to commission an integrated work of art in their transit oriented development at the north end of the Red Line. An info session is on February 22nd, and applications are due March 15th. Learn more.
