Fund the I-35 Caps
Thank you to those who sent an email to Austin City Council Members to show support for the initial funding for the I-35 Caps and Stitches.
This once-in-80-years opportunity will help mitigate the expansion of the 20+ lane highway into surrounding neighborhoods plus create regional destinations & open space and a new urban trail—East Avenue Trail—that together with the Red Line Parkway will create a new 7-mile trail loop in the region's most populous area. The caps will also provide land bridges for both Red Line Parkway crossings of I-35, helping to create a continuous greenway-escape from the noise and bustle of the city. Learn more from the City fo Austin's Our Future 35 program.
The council decision to provide the initial "Roadway Elements" funding was postponed from December to March 27th [Update 2/27/25 3:07pm: The decision is now postponed to May.], so we still need your help to show broad community support for the caps & stitches.
In addition to sending an email now to city council members, you can sign up for additional alerts from our coalition partners at FUNDtheCAPS.com.
